I love encouraging my students to grow in new ways they never thought possible, and am committed to helping them fulfill their potential as beautiful movers. I believe that creating a safe and supportive environment to nurture each dancer’s own creative style and artistry will help them to confidently and radiantly express each piece of choreography or freestyle in their own stunning way. Most of all, I am passionate about empowering each student in my class to trust in themselves and, in having the courage to be completely themselves without judgment, to inspire others to do the same.
I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with Honors in Dance and Drama. While in NYC for UC Irvine’s New York Satellite Program, I performed in an Off-Broadway musical theater production, and afterwards decided that I preferred dancing in LA to NYC. Since graduating, I have had the pleasure of dancing professionally in LA and on tour with Multiplex Dance Company, helping to found the West Hollywood Dance Festival, and appearing in repertory such as “Substrata,” “Between Earth and Heaven,” and the company’s signature piece, “Multiplex.” I also had the exciting opportunity to perform internationally in Europe with DTM2 Improvisational Ensemble, and in Japan in “Dreaming Forward,” an artistic collaboration with acclaimed choreographer Motoko Hirayama.
I have enjoyed teaching various styles of movement since 2005, including modern dance, contemporary, hip hop, gymnastics, acrobatics, aerial silks and lyra/hoop, flexibility, and martial arts. I am also a certified women’s self-defense instructor, and teach workshops on the subject to help my beloved dance community stay safe.
